In celebration of Heritage Day, the City's Arts and Culture Department will launch the Liberation Heritage Route and a booklet that will be highlighting the various iconic liberation struggle sites around the metropole in the months to come.
‘Cape Town's heritage must be inclusive and speak to the shared identities
of all South Africans, while also celebrating the unique and significant values of our diverse range of cultural groups.
The city is rich with monuments and statu es that are used as both a means to celebrate our collective heritage and identities as well as to educate current and future generations about our past,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
