Fines issued, suspects arrested during an operation conducted in the Nyanga precinct WESTERN CAPE - Our endeavours to clean the streets of the Nyanga policing precinct resulted to thirty fines being issued during an integrated operation amongst the police, SANDF, Metro Police and Provincial Traffic on 17 September 2020.
The
fines to the value of R30 800-00 were issued to motorists without driver's licences, vehicles without number plates and several other transgressions .
One hundred and seventy people and 54 vehicles were searched with 38 tested during 62 stop and searches and 6 vehicle control points conducted.
Searches were also conducted at illegal outlets which saw two people being arrested for dealing in liquor and 44 780 ml of liquor being confiscated.
Police also arrested a suspect who had just robbed a cell phone and was found in possession of an imitation firearm and the victim's cell phone.
The suspect is expected to appear in Athlone Magistrate Court once charges facing charges of armed robbery, possession of an imitation
firearm and possession of stolen property.
The teams were applauded for the excellent successes.
