SA Rugby has cleared Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth following an internal investigation into an incident in Langebaan last year.
Etzebeth was accused of physical and racial abuse outside a pub in the Western Cape town, just before the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
SA Rugby has issued a brief statement saying
that an independent investigation was conducted and that the case from their perspective is now closed.
Etzebeth admitted to being there, but denied that he was guilty of any sort of abuse.
The Human Rights Commission however has still not completed it's investigation after the incident was referred to them.
Leader of the Khoisan Defiance Campaign, Sammy Claasen says although SA Rugby has cleared Etzebeth of any wrong doing, he still has to go to the Equality Court.
Claasen says reports that he has been cleared should not mislead the public into thinking that he has no case to answer.
