This morning at around 08:50, TAC Pulse ERS Paramedics in TP02 and TP06 responded to a serious Motor Vehicle Collision on the N12, between Wolmaransstad and Klerksdorp, in front of the Bona Bona Game Reserve.
Two bakkies (vehicles 1 & 2), headed in opposite directions, collided with each other, which resulted in significant damage to the driver's side of both vehicles. It is alleged that a third vehicle, driving in the rear of one of the bakkies, attempted to avoid the ensuing collision by swerving to the side of the road; unfortunately, this action led to the vehicle hitting a ditch.
The driver of vehicle three (3) sustained multiple traumatic musculoskeletal injuries and was provided with Advanced Life Support care on scene. Once stabilised, the patient was rapidly transported to a local Government facility. Unfortunately, the passenger situated in vehicle three (3) sustained fatal injuries, and nothing could be done and was declared as deceased.
Four (4) patients from vehicles 1 & 2, sustained moderate to serious injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to a Private Hospital in Klerksdorp.
A special word of thanks and appreciation to the Wolmaransstad Fire & Rescue Department who rapidly responded to the scene and extricated a patient from a vehicle using the jaws-of-life equipment. Excellent Life-saving work!
We also wish to extend our appreciation to the Wolmaransstad SAPS, Provincial Traffic Police, and Wolmaransstad EMRS Departments for their excellent cooperation and teamwork on the scene.
