WATCH: Residents of Browns Farm in Philippi on the Cape Flats braved severe weather conditions today to march against gender based violence in the area.
They visited the field where the naked body of 17-year-old Amahle Quku was found last weekend.
Quku was allegedly raped before she was killed.
Residents
of Siyanyanzela Informal Settlement in Philippi came out in their numbers despite the heavy rain.
They say they want justice for Quku and her family.
Community leaders says crime is rife in the area and they want more police resources to be deployed.
The march also took them to the local police station to hand over a memorandum calling for an end to crime.
The community has also asked government to help Quku's family to bury her with dignity."https://scontent-jnb1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t15.5256-10/104864981_687563631822681_1911534147160169305_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_sid=f2c4d5&_nc_ohc=oI7TQi1EvuAAX--dR91&_nc_ht=scontent-jnb1-1.xx&oh=46926bd43ead4222da9ed8ba5d0ec1f5&oe=5F1C840C"
