The DA says it will continue with its case in the Cape Town High Court, about the constitutionality of the ban on the personal care industry, even though government has opened it up.
The DA's urgent application which was to be heard today, has been postponed to a date that
is yet to be determined, as it is now not that urgent.
DA Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry, Dean Macpherson, says they hope for a ruling in the case - that will set a precedent that a state of disaste r does not mean the suspension of the Constitution: "Unless that is declared unconstitutional the minister might seek to do it again should a second or third wave come through, that's why its important that we establish that legal precedent so that the minister knows that she cannot re-introduce the ban, but also importantly that she is rebuked for her unconstitutional behavior."
