Robbery Suspect Arrested: Verulam - KZN Members of Reaction Unit South Africa arrested a suspect during a robbery in progress in Verulam earlier today (Saturday).
At approx 16:22 a member of the public flagged down a passing RUSA Ambulance and informed the medic that
a group of men were attempting to stab a male on a bridge near Shoprite Checkers on Todd Street.
The Paramedic immediately called for assistance when he noticed four (4) men making several attempts to stab a vi ctim during a robbery.
Reaction Officers arrived on scene whilst the robbery was in progress and the suspects attempted to flee on foot.
One suspect was arrested during a scuffle with Officers.
An Okapi knife & the victims mobile (picture 3) phone was recovered.
The 20 year old suspect was later identified as a trolley assistant at a local supermarket.
He resides in Waterloo and is part of a gang that have robbed and stabbed several victims in recent weeks in
the Cbd.
RUSA has attended to 28 Armed & Common Robberies in the Phoenix, Verulam & Tongaat area during the Lockdown Period.
