The ANC in the Western Cape says the DA's decision to remove Patricia de Lille from her position as Mayor of the City of Cape Town has plunged the city into a governance crisis. The party says the DA used unconstitutional means to oust De Lille. Yesterday, the DA revoked De Lille's membership citing a clause in its constitution which states that if a member declares their intention to resign from the party publicly, the person's membership is automatically terminated. ANC Head of Elections in the Western Cape, Ebrahim Rasool says the DA has captured the City of Cape Town in an unconstitutional manner. "We have now come to the conclusion that to save the people of the Western Cape, we are now calling on the national government to impose administration over the city.We have done this in other ANC municipalities. We think the time for this to happen is now. They can't sort out their leadership, service delivery is suffering and good governance is being compromised."
