The South African Society of Bank Officials (SASBO) has condemned Nedbank for announcing plans to cut three thousand jobs as a result of robotics. Nedbank has announced it could possibly cut jobs as a result of software robots, but that the job losses would be offset by the bank's expected growth. Nedbank has installed 59 software robots and plans to have 200 in place by the end of the year. SASBO has warned that while it was not oblivious to technological changes, the news of such a high number of job losses at a single bank may create resentment about their impact.
