Potchefstroom: The police in Taung received information on Saturday, 13 January 2018, that the missing Tumisang Makabela (20) was again walking on the road between Christiana and Jan Kemp dorp. The Investigating officer rushed to this road, accompanied by family members of Makabela. At about 14:30 Makabela was found sleeping under a tree about 15/20 km from Christiana. He was dirty and tired and taken to a local hospital where he was admitted.
Makabela went missing from Chiefscourt Village in Taung, after visiting family during the festive season. He is not mentally stable and was last seen by his uncle on Tuesday, 2 January 2018, at approximately 10:00, when he was leaving the house on foot. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, navy blue trousers and red tekkies. He never returned. He was reported missing on Saturday, 6 January 2018 at Taung police station where a missing person enquiry was registered for investigation.
According to previous information received, Makabela, was spotted by a community member on Wednesday, 10 January 2017, walking on the Christiana/Jan Kemp dorp Road towards Jan Kemp dorp.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane expressed her appreciation about the cooperation between the police, family members, community members and the media that resulted in the missing person to be traced and found.
