1 Dead 1 injured - Tongaat
A driver, who had survived a car accident in Tongaat, was electrocuted by a hidden network of illegal electrical connections, as he climbed from the wreckage.
It is reported that the driver lost control of his vehicle whilst traveling on the R102 near Tongaat.
The driver was unable to regain control of the vehicle which veered off of the road, and rolled multiple times.
The car came to a stop in thick brush alongside the road. It is reported that the man tried to climb out of the vehicle, when he came into contact with a live illegal electricity connection. He died as a result of the electrocution.
The man's seriously injured partner was entrapped in the crumpled wreckage, and medics had to wait for Eskom technicians to isolate a nearby transformers.
Once the connections were isolated, IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics made their way to the woman. She was treated and stabilised in the car before being carefully extricated by Tongaat fire department, using the jaws of life.
The injured female was transported to hospital for further care.
