Elderly Female Killed In N2 Head-On-Collision
Just after 09:00 Crisis Medical paramedics responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the N2 national highway near to the Riverhorse Valley area.
On arrival on the scene, paramedics were greeted with the crumpled remains of a Toyota Fortuner and a Ford Figo which had collided head-on. A sixty-year-old female was found seated in her Ford Figo having suffered fatal injuries. Unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do to assist her and she was declared deceased on arrival.
Two male occupants from the Toyota aged between forty and fifty years of age sustained minor to moderate injury and were treated and stabilized on the scene before being taken to hospital for further care.
Traffic was severely affected as part of the roadway remained closed to allow emergency services space to work, the local traffic authorities were on scene to assist.
At this stage, the cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
