Veteran journalist Karima Brown has won her case of harassment against the leaders of the Economic Freedom Fighters in the Johannesburg High Court. They squared off after Brown received a barrage of insults and death threats from EFF
members after party leader Julius Malema posted her cellphone number on twitter after she mistakenly posted an editorial brief in an EFF media WhatsApp group. Brown claimed that the party had contravened parts of the Electoral Act by intimidating her as a journalist and wanted it to be held responsible for its conduct on social media platforms. The court found that the EFF contravened the Electoral Code and must pay costs. Brown has welcomed the ruling,
saying it shows the hypocrisy of the EFF.
