The November and December months are traditionally the busiest times for the City of Cape Town's customer offices.
The City encourages customers to plan their visits ahead of time during these months and to consider making use of our convenient e-Services and online payment options, where possible.
The City's customer
offices, including the motor vehicle registration and licensing centres, will likely be busier than usual during the November and December months due to an increase in transactions ahead of the festive season.
This situation is exacerbated by the Covid-19 regulations and state of affairs.
City staff will continue to do their utmost to assist customers as fast as possible.
We remind residents that customer offices, which provide cash receiving, account enquiries, motor vehicle registration and licensing services, as well as housing rental offices, will be closed on certain days over the festive season but it is also traditionally the busiest months of the year, ahead of people going on holiday and some making additional payments.
It is important therefore for customers to make
their plans ahead of time to visit offices as early as possible if required or allow sufficient time to conduct their business online or via e-Services.
The City continues to implement strict customer-facing Covid-19 regulations that we must adhere to and that affect turnaround times.
‘As we approach the festive season, the City's customer offices will experience longer queues at times.
If possible, we encourage customers to perform their business online or to use e-Services.
If you need to visit an office, please go early in the morning or choose another day if the lines are too long.
‘Customers could also make use of the various convenient retail payment options, where possible.
Our staff gives preference to pensioners (65 and above) and people with disabilities at all of our customer offices and we remind residents to always check their motor vehicle licence discs to see when their licence is up for renewal to avoid unnecessary penalties,' said the City's Director for Revenue, Trevor Blake.
