The City of Cape Town says the washed up carcass of a humpback whale near the harbour, poses no no risk to the beach or coastal users. The 10-metre whale carcass washed ashore on Tuesday evening south of the Black

river mouth. Mayoral Committee Member for the Environment, Marian Nieuwoudt says the city is following the necessary procedures to ensure it's removed, but the carcass can currently not be reached. She says officials are monitoring the situation and once the sea moves the carcass to a better location, it will be removed. (Image: Whale and Dolphin Conservation)
