Sunningdale House Robbery Suspects Arrested...

INCIDENT: HOUSE ROBBERY / SUSPECTS ARRESTED

SUBURB: SUNNINGDALE

Three suspects have been arrested by Marshall Security following a house robbery in Sunningdale, Umhlanga this morning.

At approximately 04:14 Marshall Security recieved an alert for a house robbery which had

occurred at a complex in Sugarfarm Trail, Sunningdale.

Information recieved was that three suspects had held up the homeowner and made off with her Mercedes-Benz motor vehicle.

A description of the vehicle was distributed to all vehicles in the area and a vehicle matching the description was spotted travelling on Umhlanga Rocks drive by members of our Special Operations Team. The vehicle was followed towards Umhlanga Rocks and onto the N2 south bound carriageway, where a high speed chase ensued.

In an

attempt to evade arrest the suspect vehicle turned off at the M25 Kwamashu Highway offramp where the driver lost control of the stolen Mercedes-Benz, causing it to overturn.

All three suspects were apprehended. A flat screen television and other items taken in the robbery were all recovered as well as a crowbar, bolt cutters and other house breaking implements.

The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.

Reports from the initial scene indicate that the three suspects cut the sceurity gate using bolt cutters before forcing entry to the home. The suspects confronted the female homeowner pepper spraying her before confining her to a bedroom and ransacking her home and making off with her motor vehicle.

The suspects are believed to be linked to numerous incidents of house robberies in the Sunningdale and surrounding areas of late.
