Police are investigating a case of murder following the fatal shooting of a farmer in his home on a farm in Stellenbosch last night, The 62-year-old farmer, Stefan Smit, died on the scene. Last year, Smit approached the High Court

in Cape Town to have illegal land invaders removed from his farm, Louisenhof. The invaders were backyarders and shack dwellers. Western Cape Police spokesperson, Colonel, Andre Traut, says investigations are underway: "Four armed suspects entered the victim's house through an unlocked door and shot and killed him. His wife and a family friend who were present at the time of the incident both survived the attack. The suspects fled with personal belongings and are yet to be arrested. "
