Hundreds of volunteers are packing Eid parcels in Athlone and Mitchells Plain today to be distributed to the needy, as the month of Ramadaan draws to a close. Ramadaan is a month-long period of fasting for Muslims wold-wide. Relief
organisation, the South African National Zakah Fund (SANZAF) says groceries will be packed into hampers to be distributed nationally before the day of Eid. SANZAF Spokesperson, Sakeena Bock, says the aim is to ensure that every Muslim has food on Wednesday when they celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr: "It's very important to know that Fitrah, based on one's affordability, it's a very minimal amount, which enables each person to partake in doing this and in doing so. The money that we collect
will benefit 26 000 people that we will be providing meals for on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr."
