Three Grade 11 learners from Cape Town are among six math whizzes who will participate in the 60th International Mathematical Olympiad to be held in Bath, in the United Kingdom from the tenth until the 22nd of July. Taariq Mowzer from Fairbain College, Emil van der Walt from Jan van Riebeeck High and Adri Wessels from Curro Durbanville were among those selected. The others are, two from Johannesburg and one from Durban. The selection was based on the results of last year's South African Mathematics Olympiad and other Mathematics Olympiad programmes by the South African Mathematics Foundation, followed by an intensive training programme. In the IMO, they will be asked questions which will test their advanced thinking skills in mathematical topics including Geometry, Combinatorics, Number Theory and Algebra.
