On Sunday 24 December 2017 at about 13:45 Mitchells Plain police doing patrols in Garcia street, Tafelsig spotted two suspects who started running when they saw the police. The police officers then pursued the suspects on foot. One of the suspect’s dropped a firearm in a box in front of a yard and jumped the fence. Members recovered a Luger Parabellum 9mm firearm with two magazines and 30 9mm rounds. The serial number had been filed off.
The second suspect ran into the backyard where he dropped a firearm while fleeing from the members. Police recovered a black .38 Special Arminius revolver with six .38 special rounds. The serial number of the firearm was filed off.
Police have opened enquires for further investigation. No persons have been arrested.
