A strong cold front will make landfall tomorrow (Thursday 26 August 2021) over the western parts of both the Western Cape and Northern Cape resulting in strong to near gale-force winds in places, heavy downpours, snow on the high-lying areas and very cold conditions especially from the afternoon into the
evening.
Rainfall accumulations of 40 to 60 mm are possible in a 24-hour period over the south-western Cape, which may lead to localised flooding.
Strong winds may result in difficult driving conditions in places over the Northern Cape and Western Cape.
Snow is also expected over the high-lying areas on Friday, which may become disruptive leading to the closure of some mountain passes.
