Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers, is expected to engage with the Bitou Municipality and leadership of the Qolweni community at Plettenberg Bay today.
This follows ongoing protests on the N2, due to housing issues.
There has been delays in the Qolweni housing project, apparently due to a stalemate between
the municipality and the contractor.
Simmers says they have been consistent in offering to assist the municipality should they be unable to commence with the housing project.
He says for this to occur, however, Council must formally request them to take over this project.
