Two Critical Following Avoca Hills Shooting.

2019/03/05

Earlier this afternoon, Crisis Medical and Marshall Security responded to the scene of a shooting at the intersection of Queen Nandi and Malendela Drive, in the suburb of Avoca Hills.

On arrival on scene,

paramedics found two men aged between thirty and forty years old, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds from a high calibre weapon.

The victims were treated and stabilized on the scene using advanced life support interventions, before being placed onto specialised stretchers, used for the prevention and treatment of suspected spinal cord injuries and taken by ambulances to a nearby medical facility for further definitive care.

Reports from the scene suggest the men were ambushed by armed suspects who opened

fire on them near the intersection, injuring the men and causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway, hitting a street light, before coming to a rest on the centre median.

The motive behind the shooting is unclear. The South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation. The suspects remain at large.
