Man Left In Critical Condition Following La Lucia Fire
2019/01/24

At approximately 12:45 Crisis Medical responded to a call for a man on fire in the La Lucia area.

Paramedics arrived on the scene in William Campbell Drive, to find a twenty-nine-year-old man had sustained life-threatening burns to his body and was in a critical condition.

Advanced life support paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the man before he was taken by ambulance to Addington Hospital for further care.

Unconfirmed reports from the scene suggest the man to be a vagrant who had taken refuge in a nearby electrical substation. The cause of the fire is however unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
