The Muslim Judicial Council says it will be facilitaing tests to ensure that halaal meat products have not been affected by the Listeria outbreak. At least 180 people have died countrywide of the disease. Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi, announced on Sunday that the source of the outbreak was an Enterprise factory in Polokwane. Direcor of the MJC's Halaal Trust, Shaykh Achmat Sedick, says they have not received any reports thus far of halaal products being contaminated. " For the Muslim communuty we said ok fine we will be doing testing and we encourage all the butchers and all those involved in processing meats that we are doing testing so we got the lab that we have here in Cape Town so we have made an arrangement with them that we will faciltate this to all butchers and the meat processes and take samples of whatever they have. "
