Swift response by the police from Worcester and Rawsonville led to the arrest of four men and the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition last night in the Rawsonville area.
According to reports the complainant was asleep in his residence in Avian Park, Worcester, when he heard stones being thrown at his house and at his vehicle. The man, carrying his licenced firearm, went outside to investigate, and fired three warning shots. The suspects fled the scene in three vehicles. The members from Worcester SAPS were in the vicinity and responded to the complaint. They spotted the suspicious Toyota double cab vehicle and a high speed chase ensued.
Four suspects aged between 21 and 58 years were arrested in Rawsonville, in possession of the white Toyota vehicle they were driving. A .38 special revolver with live rounds of ammunition were confiscated. The case is being investigated by the Hawks in the Western Cape.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Worcester Magistrates’ Court, once they have been charged with attempted murder and the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
