20 years in jail for rapist murderer
Yesterday, Nongoma Regional Court convicted and sentenced Mboniseni Dlamini (32) to 20 years imprisonment for both rape and murder charges. He was convicted after the magistrate heard how he committed these crimes last year. On 1 January 2017 at 4:00 the victim, Ntombizethu Simelane (24) was at her house at Ekubuseni area, Nongoma when she was approached by the accused. After an argument, she was raped and stabbed to death. Her throat was slit and was found lying in a pool of blood in the house. A weapon (knife) suspected to be used to kill the victim was found at the scene. A case of murder was opened at Nongoma police station for further investigation. Through hard work by the local detectives, the accused was arrested and charged with murder and rape.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa welcomed the sentence handed down to the accused. " The accused showed no remorse when attacking the victim as she was brutally killed and raped. This will send a strong message to would-be criminals that the police will not tolerate those who abuse women and children" , he said.
