Umzinto SAPS nabs two suspects for house robbery and stabbing shortly after crime
On Wednesday, 31 January, a 58-year-old Falcon Road, Gandhinagar resident with multiple stab wounds, was rushed to hospital by private transport following a house robbery at his residence. The Umzinto SAPS has registered a case of house robbery for investigation.
It is alleged that at about 11:00, four suspects forced their way into the premises and accosted the victim who was alone at home. They assaulted the victim, demanded money and repeatedly stabbed him before taking, inter alia, a TV, clothing, laptop, DVD player, decoder. chairs, a music system and jewellery.
Before long, Umzinto SAPS detectives arrested a 33-year-old suspect and recovered some of the stolen property in nearby bushes. Working through the night, detectives arrested a second suspect in Amandawe in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, 1 February. The search for the other two suspects continues. The case is being investigated by Detective Sergeant Nomalen Pillay of the Umzinto SAPS Detective Service.
