INCIDENT: STABBING / SUSPECT ARRESTED
Shortly before 21:00 on Thursday, Marshall Security were alerted to an assault in progress on the M4 Ruth First Highway, in the vicinity of the Swapo Road onramp.
Armed reaction officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival it was ascertained that whilst a motorist had stopped on the side of the road and was attempting to change a tyre, he was approached by an unknown suspect, armed with a broken bottle. The suspect began assaulting the victim who sustained lacerations to his head and hands, before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.
Crisis Medical paramedics attended and the man was stabilized on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
A search of the surrounding area wasconducted by Marshall Security with the assistance of the SAPS, resulting in the arrest of a male, later positively identified by the victim as his attacker.
The suspect was found in posession of the broken bottle as well as various blood stained clothing items. He was remanded into the custody of the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
